Both Rivals and Scout updated their rankings last week and the Tide moved in both rankings.
Former Tiders team up on reality TV show
Former Alabama offensive linemen Trent Patterson and Roger Shultz will appear together on NBC's new season of its weight-loss show "The Biggest Loser." Patterson, a guard, and Shultz, a center, played together at Alabama from 1987-90. Shultz will start the show weighing around 360 pounds with a goal to dip below 200 pounds. Patterson, meanwhile, opens near a hefty 430 pounds. He lists his New Year's resolution as, "To fit in my college uniform!"

BIG SCHOOLS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
"He's the wisest and smartest guy I've ever met. I'm behind him 100 percent," Jackson said. "I know other people see him in a different way. He's a hard-nosed coach. He demands discipline, but I believe what he says. That's what sold me on him. I'm not going anywhere else other than Alabama." -- Star Jackson on Nick Saban
CECIL HURT: Biggest story of the Year? That's easy
But the No. 1 story — which started on Jan. 1, 2007, when there was still a coaching search going on, and will stretch right up until the late hours of Dec. 30 — is obvious. In fact, Nick Saban’s first year at Alabama has dominated the headlines to a degree that it would be possible to break it down into segments and make a Top 10 list that was all Saban, all the time.“Saban Hired At Alabama.” “Saban Packs Them In At A-Day.” “Saban Begins First Season.” “Saban-Led Tide Pounds Tennessee.” “Saban Can’t Stop Tide’s November Swoon.” “Saban Angers (Insert Your Interest-Group’s Name Here) With Remarks.”
