2008 Recruiting Roundup

Bama Back to Where It Should Be #1
All the commitments have signed. We added Marcel Dareus DT Birmingham, Julio Jones WR Foley AL and Jerrell Harris LB Gadsden AL. Rivals has moved us to #1 and Scout still has us at #1. Now it is time to go out and work toward being #1 on the field. The 2008 Recruiting Class page has been updated.

Alabama wins recruiting national title
The Tide came rolling in on National Signing Day. After an impressive flurry of commitments in the past 48 hours, and thanks to a solid recruiting foundation that was laid in the spring and summer, Alabama has been crowned by Rivals.com as the recruiting national champions for the class of 2008. There are several uncommitted players who could cause some shifts in the top-10, but nobody has enough left on the board to knock the Tide from their perch.

Saban Pleased With Signing Class
Bama’s head coach addressed the media Wednesday afternoon and said he was pleased with the results. Alabama Coach Nick Saban reminded that a year ago he had made a commitment to excellence and said that the 2008 Crimson Tide football recruiting class was testament to that commitment. He said he expects the group of 32 signees to be “the cornerstone” of future Bama success on the field.

Something to ponder
  • Alabama signed seven of the top 10 players in the state. The other three all signed out of state scholarships.
  • Alabama signed 15 players who were offered scholarships by Auburn, according to Rivals.com.
  • Auburn signed no players who were offered scholarships by Alabama, according to Rivals.com.
Roll Tide!
