A drill sergeant was chewing out a new recruit from Auburn. The conversation went like this:

Sergeant: “Tell me, if one of your ears was shot off what would happen?”
Recruit: “Well sir, I couldn’t hear.”
Sergeant: “What is both of your ears were shot off?”
Recruit: “Well, I wouldn’t be able to see.”
Sergeant: “Why do you say that?”
Recruit: “If both my ears were shot off, my helmet would slide right down over my eyes.
