Tide ready to catch its breath
The college football world can change quickly, and Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban knows this better than anyone. Last week he saw his team jump from No. 8 in the country to No. 2 after its victory against Georgia. "There are plenty of things we need to work on in this bye week to try and improve our team," Saban said. "But I also think our team needs some rest right now. Our team has played at a very high intensity level and they've played with a lot of toughness and they should be commended for that."
Alabama keeps No. 2 ranking
"These guys have done a heck of a job to get where they are," Saban said. "Now whether we have whatever it takes to stay there and continue to improve and play like we need to play against great competition in our league week in and week out, that's why we'll play the second half of the season."
Sentimore commits to Tide
Prep defensive lineman Darrington Sentimore of Destrehan, La., held scholarship offers from a host of national powers. But the one closest to him never pulled the trigger. So Sentimore committed to Alabama on Sunday instead of in-state power LSU, breaking the news to Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban with a phone call. "They have everything I need in a program," Sentimore told BamaOnline.com. "I got tired of waiting on LSU. If LSU did offer me later down the road, I wouldn't take it. This is a solid commitment to Alabama."
